Slippery Suckers

Here is the finished product. I made some of the slippers in the Knit 2 Together book, and here is one of them. They are safely packed in a box with my Dads gloves and are postmarked for west virginia. I would be happy to receive either of these gifts, especially since i made them, i try not to make things that i would not like to be given, because chances are that no one else will either, lol.

Angelina is finished

OK I finally finished it and if I can figure out a way to post from my phone I will. I am so excited that it is finally done, and I have moved on to work on my daughters new sweater for this year and next, so I am making it in a size 6. It was a pattern that I downloaded from Berroco, and I am adapting so that it doesn't look retarded, I swear some of the patterns that are out there are written so badly that you have to change them, or they are written taking for granted that you are doing something that they haven't put in the pattern. I would never start the back ribbing on a child's sweater and then decrease by 11 stitches on something that only had 69 to begin with after the border was done, can you imaging the ripples? This was originally a pattern for a boys sweater, and I am changing it. I think that I may actually publish a book that has all of my adapted and simple to use patterns at some point in the future.

you got me

Apparently, I have been tied up, and I am mostly done with my angelina sweater, I have another sweater on the needles, the knit in chunks, which I keep changing the pattern as I go since it does not count out right, and dads gloves, and oh a sweater from knitscene magazine a few seasons back, and I have been updating ravelry, and I have been searching tirelessly for a diagonal knit sweater that I saw in Loops in Tulsa, but absolutely cannot find online, ugh!

the neverending story II

That is what my kids are watching and I thought for a while that this sweater was indeed the neverending project. I like this sweater but the design takes forever, not to mention that I actually ripped out a sleeve needlessly...don't know what I was thinking. It just didn't look right, and well, that did waste a lot of time. But it is done, and now I can move on to something else. My boyfriend still wants me to knit him a cable sweater but not for now. We had plans to go to Ireland at the end of the month but it isn't going to happen now. Oh well. You live and learn. I trusted a lady not naming names;(Arcelia)at the Department of Education and she did not file my paperwork for me last year....meanwhile I never received a piece of paper in the meantime so I thought my hardship was filed correctly. They took my income tax refund. And now they are trying to help me get it back. Anyhow no trip to the motherland of knitting...and without further ado, my latest creation, pattern is online at www.lionbrand.com

promises promises

I know I have been remiss in consistency, unlesss being inconsistent consistently. I have been doing lots of knitting though I promise. I have many things to finish up and I have no idea where to start, but I will. I have been busy as well with dating, I finally found someone that makes me smile even whenI am mad, all someone has to do is mention his name and it makes me feel better.....strange but at 30 I believe I am supposed to be more likely to be bitten by a shark than to find someone I could love, isn't that right? Or isn't that what I would like to believe? Not a clue anymore but I am enjoying the time I spend with this person. I refused to make them a cable knit sweater, for fear of the boyfriend sweater curse. I'm not risking it...not for now. Oh well...I have plans, a babysitter for the whole day and a wonderful man at my disposal, I am going to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, lol.

End Result

ok, I said I would do it and here it is....I have many other things going, but you know how it goes, all of a sudden you are in the middle of something else and you wonder what happened to all of the time. So my Glampyre sweater came out really nice. I promise to model it soon. I wore it to work the other day and everyone complimented me on it. It's a baby pink color in case it doesn't caome accross too clear. I used lionbrand baby yarn, one of those monstrous balls, it was left over from the baby afghan I made.

oh man

I can't believe it has been over 4 months since I last posted! I just can't believe it, I have been so busy, I have been to Vegas and back and I have made lots of knitting progress on many things, currently trying to finish the "boobholder" from Glampyre, Stefani Japel....more to come, still single, still a mother of two, still working for the phone company, and still a major part of my local union, all of which keep me busy and happy. And I am making the latest in my favorite shade of pink.

flower power

I think I have said before that I make things for people when they ask, or pay me, and I was paid to make this baby afghan, my daughter is in love with it and so now I think I may have to make another.......so feminine, and a week and half worth of work. I have lots of other stuff to work on, but this is the only thing on the pic list at the moment.

Ouch

Ok, Double whammy, I had my favorite hat disappear, and not that much yarn left, then I threw out my back. Yep, nothing left to do but make myself another hat, Saturday. I had to take my holiday at work, so, lucky that I had nothing else to do. I sat here on the loveseat with my feet up for half the day. I was done in a few hours and I quite like the effect even though I am not a person that likes pom poms...I like this one. I am also making some gaunlets to go with it. They shoudl be done shortly. The pattern is my own, and The yarns are Manos del Uraguay, and Nashua Creative Focus. If you would like the pattern please ask. Colors: Manos Bramble, and Nashua Taupe Heather

another mini

This yarn is addictive, I don't know how many of you have tried Tonalita by Trendsetter yarns, but it is realy soft on the hands,a nd I have enjoyed it alot. I look forward to buying more of it. I need to use up soem of my current stash though. I have some cotton chenille to make a washcloth out of, and about 4 rubbermaid bins full of yarn just waiting......for a purpose even. I think I have a bunch of baby blankets to make. Maybe. I have been working on other things as well, but I like finished posts....so we'll just have to wait.

About Time!

Ok ok, something for those of you who happen by my blog by accident, a pic of the sweater I recently finished. Size 2 toddler, Lion Brand Wool-Ease and Red Heart acrylic, size 9 needles, and JBH buttons, upside down. I like them better that way. They had a lot of color on the other side. I am working on several other projects at the same time, another Tonalita scarf, a sweater from Knitscene adapted to my style, and of course the ever on going Angelina, and a pair of gloves for my Dad. I need to finish some of them quick, because I need to make a sweater for my son. He seems to be a bit jealous of the sweaters that I have made for my daughter.

It's been so long....

There has so much activity since I posted last, and boy let me tell you that it has been busy, but of course I let a couple items get away without any pics. As for the grey sweater I started it is done, but I can't find the perfect buttons yet. The pink in the sweater is kind of bright, so I am going to have a hard time finding something to match. As for one of the items that got away, it was a baby blanket, tan with light blue dark blue and brown stripes, and I crocheted and edging around with three of the four colors. I may make another one close to the one I gave away, for a couple of my cousins, we will see. I have already started a baby sweater to match the blanket that I made. I hope the pattern turns out okay, I have never used it before, it is a variation of the 5 hour baby sweater. It doesn't really seem to have the stitch counts right, and I don't know if it is me, or if it the pattern. I will post a pic of the sweater in a day or so hopefully, I would rather have buttons on it first though;-)

More to come....

I spent an hour the other night sewing a butterfly latch button onto my daughters sweater that I finished the other day. And she likes it even more, she just doesn't want to wear a shirt under it. It would seem that the other sweater I made last year was the one from last minute knitted gifts, and she wore it to death, the buttons even fell off, I was so proud. But I have lots more it the works....and even though my air conditioning went out today, I would love to finish something soon. I also worked on my BMW, and I hope to have the head off soon, I just need to get stronger to break loose the head bolts, wish me luck.

OMG

I cannot believe that it has taken me this long to post....Iknew I had been remiss, but this is terrible. I vow to do better in the future. I have a finished object for you....a long awaited one anyway. I just finished it. I have been very busy. I have a new job and I have so much going on at the moment. I have been out car shopping and aand just doing everything. I also need to get a cheaper house so I can afford more things. I am looking to buy, and I want to stay in the area, so I may have to wait a while. Anyhoo, without any further ado, this is a creation for my daughter in a yarn that was made by Wal-Mart, and the pattern was the Short Round Neck Cardigan from the Big Needle Knits book. I fell in love with the pattern when I saw it and it does not come in kid sizes, but I made it into a size 4.

woo hoo!

Okay, I said I ordered a book, and it has not come yet, but lookie what I got in the mail! My step-mother had a friend of hers buy them in Germany for moi. Now, I have to really get better at my German interpretation. So, now I am still waiting on my book, and I have loads of eye candy to drool over.

I know, I know....but it makes me happy

There was a quote I once heard, and agree with very much, by Bo Derek of all people. "Whoever said money doesn't buy hapiness doesn't know where to shop." I HAVE to agree. Whether it is something as trivial as a favorite ice cream, to favorite yarn, which we all know can get expensive....whatever it is, there is somehting that you can buy to cheer you up and only you know where to get it. I bought something a few minutes ago while trolling around on Amazon, and it was something I have been wanting for almost a year. It cost $7.63 total, cost and shipping. What was it you ask? A book. But, not just any book....EZ's Knitter's Almanac. I have watched over the past couple years as people have turned out sweater after sweater, and item after item from this classic book, and I knew I had to have one....and now I will. I copied the pic, but it won't open....I will take one when it arrives, he he he ...

Think Pink...

My little girl certainly does. I bought this yarn because it had her name all over it. It was clearanced out at $1.00 a ball. I bought five, and I am using a pattern from Big Needle Knits. I am using the pattern short round necked cardigan, and I am adapting it to fit my daughter who currently wears size 4 clothing. So far it has been fairly easy, I am sure it will get trickier around the armhole shaping. I am using size 13 needles and it looks pretty good. The most time consuming part is every now and then I stop and pull out all of those little lashes to the outside of the fabric. Still it is a fast knit, when I work on it. I only have a couple hours in it at this point and think the whole thing may take 5 hours more to finish, if I can do a knitathon.
You know, I did not realize it had been so long since I posted last. I have been terribly busy most days with job stuff. The school career center is driving me nuts. I keep giving reference forms to people that could write good references for me, and so far the only one that has made it into my file was hand delivered. How can they lose so many letters? I am getting pretty irritated, because when I found out they were missing, I asked them to hold a request for my credentials and I would get new letters.....They sent a potential employer a half empty credential packet. Now I am screwed, she says "I am sorry, if there had been a hold on it we wouldn't have sent it out." I said "There was a hold." She says "Oh." Is she going to try to help me? No. She says she doesn't know what happened and that she needs to go. What am I supposed to do? That was the best job offer I had close to home. I guess now I have no other choice because they are not going to cooperate. I am going to have to talk to someone about this. I need a job, and they are crippling my chances of getting something good. I want to know how many other half empty credential files they have sent out to potential jobs. Ridiculous. Oh well, I guess Monday I have a new mission in life. Or at least temporarily.
Anyhow, I have a lot of knitting to do yet:
1. Angelina
2. Dad's gloves
3. Ahava's sweater
4. Pringle sweater
5. socks?
okay okay, I'm going.....

Mini Finish

Okay, it wasn't really a lot to do, but I feel like I have finally finished something, this is a miniscarf done in Tonalita Color2348 by Trendsetter Yarns. It is 52% wool and 48% acrylic, but it is GOOD....like chocolate good.....addiction good...I can see myself buying way too much of this already.....Pattern: mine, 15sts, seed stitch, knit until there is about 15in of yarn left, bind off in pattern. Normally $9.50 a ball, I got it at my LYS for 50% off because it was the only one left it its color. Woohoo!

Do I really have to say anything about it, except this is how I am spending me evening?

Busy Busy Bees

Some bees were very busy over the winter, and I know, because someone gave me these as a gift...that was a week ago and they are still doing okay. (That would be my daughter behind them...) However, the person who gave them to me will not speak to me anymore. Apparently he had hopes that we would get married....but even the thought of another marriage is scary. Not to mention the fact that he was really rushing things, he only knew me for a week. Oh well, my brother came in from Florida, and I didn't even get a pictue to post. I will have to download one from his website. We don't look related so much anymore. He is two years older than me....but today he turns 31. Happy Birthday to my one and only big brother. Last Sunday was my Dad's birthday, the reason I am knitting crazy german mittens.
Wow, my kids are having a connecting moment, they wanted to sit next to eachother on the arm of the sofa....so cute. I have the other glove to finish and I can't wait because these gloves are dragging on forever. Hope Dad knows I care....lol.

Chinese Torture Anyone?

I have been working on this glove for a while now....the same glove, for about 6 months. I have knit, and ripped, knit and ripped, and knit and ripped. The crazy thing is a pattern from a german manufacturer, that has been translated to English, or a resemblance of. It has driven me crazy from the moment I started it. There are directions in over three different places, and none of them match up. There are only partial directions in each spot. I would not recommend buying their patterns, but they are so darn cute, if you can figure them out. Anyhow, I have to get back to work, I need to finish this glove in time for the mail, it is a present for my Dad. His birthday is next week. 52 years old.....hahaha....but he's my Daddy. We did not get along until I was 15, but after that we were like two peas in a pod.

Sshhhh...I have a secret...

I have been sewing! Yes, I have always sewn, but now I have a state of the art non-computerized machine, by Brother. It was given to my mother and she broke it by not cleaning it, and then when I fixed it, she did not use it for over a year. I asked her why and she said she did not think that I had fixed the machine, because it was not working like it used to, she did not even try it for herself, she was watching me sew.....I did not go fast enough for her viewing pleasure, so I suggesting taking it from her and she was happy to oblige. I am giving my old machine to someone who like to learn to sew, and it should be a good first machine. Some other things that have happened; I found a local knitting group to join, it only took 5 years. I found Adorn magazine, super cool ideas...and I found a magazine called Cotton and Paint. There are some awesone slippers in it, and I am going to make two pair I think. I bought fabric for red ones and fabric for mauve brown ones...mmmmmm. Okay, here is a take a long bag that I made for my son, because no one gets his name right or returns his things...watch them try it now.

Working....on everything ; )

I have been busy for the past week or so, I have been working, I got done this evening at about 9:30. I have to go to work tomorrow too, and I do not know exactly how long it will take, but I do know that I can seriously make money cleaning. It is so strange how much people get paid to clean empty places. I worked so hard scrubbing that my legs literally ache all the way down the fronts and backs....I am getting ready to take a HOT bath. I can't wait. Rest assured that I have been knitting when I find that I can breathe, but it is on an older project that I am getting close to finishing. I want to work on my knit in chunks, but I find that I have to concentrate, and I can't hardly do that around my kids. Okay, my water is ready, I am going to sink in.....talk at you later....

I'm really doing it!

I have never done cables like this folks, but it really is easy, I just don't get a lot of time to work on it. I have three other projects going, and I need to finish a pair of gloves for my Dad. But, here is my progress thus far. I have been cleaning, and taking care of my sick little boy, and then tomorrow I get to take my daughter to the doctor for her three year check up....as a preliminary request of the neurologist. We think there may be something wrong with my daughter, she has trouble listening, and she doesn't answer questions coherently, and there are several other things that worry me, but one of the biggest is that she did not used to have these problems....and we don't know why she is having problems with things that she did not have problems with before. It's very strange, I had asked the doctor about the possibility that something went awry when she had her tonsilectomy, and they said that it could have been possible for her to have a stroke or seizure and no one would have known. I have been asking the doctor about these strange behaviors for a while now (months), and if I find out that it was a stoke or seizure I will be upset, because now the damage will be irreversible. They kept telling there was nothing to worry about...but now they are worried too.

Slip Slip Slipping away....

Oh boy, this day is going to last forever, I can already feel it. My daughter woke everyone up about three or four times in the middle of the night, and she wanted a kiss or she couldn't find her baby in the dark. I was ready to go nuts, she kept wanting a glass of milk to keep in her room. Ugh! Anyhow, I have to go to work today and clean a house. I have ben waiting on the key for two days. The house is over 3000 square feet. I am tired. I knit a pair of slippers for my daughter from a very popular book, and I hope they turn out to her size. I made them a little differently than in the book. I put a furry trim around the top. It was something someone gave me that I had no clue what to do with. I found something.....hopefully I can felt these today.

Knit in chunks by Miss Twiss

I recently found a new webpage that is owned by Miss Twiss, many of you I am sure already know who she is, and I am just finding out. She is an apparently very generous person that saw a sweater in a magazine and decided to make her own pattern, and then SHARE it! How nice of her! I have been working on it, and I have not gotten really far because I am not used to knitting cables, so I am sort of slow, but I hope to make lots of progress shortly, I also need to buy an appropriate cable needle. I called my LYS, but they have not been open for three weeks now. We have has so much snow and ice that I don't think they will be open till next week. I am using Lion Brand Woolease in the color Orchid which is darker than my picture. It is more purple than bright pink. Anyhoo, I have also knit a pair of slippers for my daughter, will post more on that later, I still need to felt them.

Christmas Catch-up

Okay, I have now a new picture to post.....of all my Christmas loot. My step-mother bought most of it, and I think that she tried to understand what I wanted, but she is not a knitter, so I guess that she will get a lot of things knitted with yarn I do not wear. I told her I like natural fibers. As you can see, that was not what happened. She did get a lot of yarn though. She got me two books, one that I really wanted and one that is very cute. She got me this year's edition of the Knitter's Calendar, and my Dad bought me the Stitch N Bitch knitting calendar. They also got me an Ashford drop spindle and three different colors of roving. I am pretty sure that they are all BFL wool. (Blue Faced Liecester?) It is supposed to the easiest to learn spinning with. I have already managed to spin a little. I cannot wait to make something and then wear it or give it to someone. I think that most of my family appreciates the value of something handmade because they are always asking me to teach them how to do this or that, (I usually give handmade gifts). I also bought myself two magazines and a book that was on clearance. The cotton fleece is the biggest mystery I need to find some short sleeved shirts to make out of it. I think I like the ones over at Zephyr designs... they are very cute and sassy. I will be losing a little bit of weight soon, so I am thinking about making the sized with only three skeins of Cotton Fleece. I hope that I will be thin soon enough to enjoy them.

Mitts!

My Cousins' little boy has been asking me for a while now to make him a pair of mittens in the color "boy blue" this would mean the shade of blue that I used the year before to make a hat and scarf, and glove ensemble for him on his birthday. H has since grown out of the last pair of mittens and has been asking me for another pair for months. Anyhow they are done and I still have not taken any pictures of the my new loot, will do later...The pattern is from a Debbie Bliss book, they are knitted flat and seamed up the side. The picture is not very clear, but is representative of the color pattern. They are for a four year old boy.

Wow, what a Christmas!

I cannot believe all of things we got for Christmas....I also made a few things. I got three calendars, one was the page a day calendar of Stich N Bitch, one was the Knitting calendar that sits on the desk, and the other one was for being a mom...I got yarn, books, patterns, leather for slippers, a drop spindle, roving, novelty yarns, and there is more on the way. As it turns out there is a friend of my step mother whose mother lives in Germany and she is sending me some pattern books from overseas! I have lots to post and lots of pictures to share, so I will be doing that in the next few days, but for now, here is the wrap that I made for my step mother. It is about 13 or 14 feet long and it is about 20" wide. I loved it, hope she does too.

I apologize...

I have been remiss in posting about the sweater that I finished for my friend's son. The problem is that I did not have a measurement to go from and I think it may be too small around the chest. I will know more once I put buttons on it and then try it on my son. The two boys are close in age, but my son is considerably smaller due to severe acid reflux. Without futher ado, the antique, skinny sweater....I have no prompt to upload a photo of it, this sucks. I have had a ton of small issues with this new beta thing, but it is starting to really get on my nerves...

Happy Blogiversary

It is hard to imagine that I have had this blog for a whole year, and I never remembered doing it on my daughter's birthday. She is 3 now, and growing up so fast. I wish sometimes that I had more time and money so that we could go and do little girl things like shopping, and lunching, and have her own room with tea party....maybe later next year.

I have a finished object, my daughter loves hats and I made one, that was not intended for her, but I hated the way the yarn felt, and stretched. She loved the hat, and since today was her birthday, I finished it up this morning and gave it to her. She loves it, and I am glad. The yarn is already stretching out where I sewed up the top six stitches. I had to tighten it up. My daughter was in trouble picking up her mess when I had the thought to take a picture of the hat, and so it is modeled here by the ever accomodating Little Man.

FO Sunday

I had a really fun time today making my own t-shirt. I also have a few other ideas for some other t-shirts, and I hope to get to do them before I forget them. I had 6 whole unsupervised hours today, (without the kids I mean.) I have so much going on tomorrow, I hope my phone does not get turned off, I have no money now, and I have not paid my bill, they took away my long distance. I figure shortly it will be turned off. Oh well, I will have to do something about it. Hopefully tomorrow I will find out if I have a job or not. Or maybe I can land a patent. I know I have a good invention and you knitters out there will love me if I get it passed, so watch out, I might be coming your way, or maybe not, we will see. Anyhoo, here is a picture of my shirt. I bought the shirt at Micheal's for three dollars and I bought the iron on transfer and paint in a packet for a dollar at Jo-Ann's. It was dry in just a few hours. I can't wait to wear it for real, (I was just modeling it.)

UFO Saturday

Okalie Dokalie, I have been a bit busy today, I have done laundry, I have done all my dishes (which I hate more than any other chore), I had three children under three all day, I cooked, I served breakfast and drinks, I changed diapers, I took a bath (yay!), I gave baths, I helped kids potty, dressed kids, changed their soiled clothes, cleaned up after kids, vacuumed my floors, Mr. Cleaned my bathroom floors, and to top it off drank a whole pot of coffee! I am sorry, but having an almost three year old and an almost two year old, and a one year old is kind of hectic. I had to replace the foil on the kids windows, they ripped it down, and they ripped the curtain apart the other day. I also took out the trash and cleaned out my fridge. Boy, I wish that coffe was caffeinated, I am starting to really drag........zzzzzz, so for now, my post will be unfinished, and I will pick up where I left off tomorrow.

UFO Friday, WHEEEeeeee

Okay, I have a lot of news for you, first, I have an unfinished sweater for a toddler, that I have to finish the sleeve on, but I will do that in a little while. I have some great news, I have created an invention fo knitting, that is a good idea. I sent in the idea and they have called back already twice, and I have a meeting on Monday to discuss everything. I can't wait. Wish me luck. I also have an unstarted project. I found a pattern for Teletubbies online, and I was amazed, this lady did a wonderful job. Her website is www.joyfultoys.bravepages.com/tubbies.html and the pattern is really good. There are somethings that are a little confusing for me because I think she is maybe British or something, and I don't understand, but I am excited about this pattern.

UFO Thursday

I don't have a picture to post, I am ashamed of myself, I have a bag of unfinished candy corn that I think that I am going to make myself sick on. I am trying, I have had a pretty rough 24 hours let me tell you. I got up, and my kids were acting pretty okay, but then my little cousin calls and she is going after the job I told her about, because I wanted it. I had already applied and everything, and then she asked me what to put on her application to make her more appealing to an employer. I told her, I don't like liars. Anyhow, she went and told this woman that she really needed this job, and I am the one that actually needed the job, my cousin already has a job! Anyhow, she came over and wanted me to fix her hair for her, sure why not, I am screwed anyhow right? So then, my X has been telling me that he hasn't been seeing anyone. Anyhow, I went to get my camcorder and guess who he is shoving out of the front door? Shad a huge stack of womens laundry in her hands. And she jumped at him practically to get a kiss after smiling at me, and this was all in front of the kids. I do not have a divorce yet because he did not want to grant me one, but yet he has a girlfriend? That he denies exists. I asked him why he was not happy that he was dating someone and why he felt he needed to lie about it all of the time? His answer....it was because I deny him. You know in spite of everything I am a hopeless romantic and I thought that if he could take a couple of years and straighten himself up that maybe we could work things out. He does not seem to understand what the counselor and I have been telling him, so now all hope that he thought he could have had will never be. And he has been hounding me about calling off child support. I called my caseworker because being temporarily out of work, I ran out of income, with no child support and such, in order to recieve temporary assistance in my state, I have to have an open case for childsupport on record. I am so tired. How did I ever get mixed up with this person? I am just ready for it all to end. I want a job, I want to be independent, (moneywise), and I want to be able to move very far away when there is nothing left for me here. I found out that my grandfather has congestive heart failure, and I am wondering just how long he really has since my dog did not last very long when she had it and I put her down, I feel even guiltier now that my grandpa has it. It was terrible to see my dog go through it, and my poor grandpa broke his ribs the other day, I am guessing from coughing. I have to take my kids over to see them all of the time, they get upset when I don't come over at least a couple of times a week. I love my grandparents so much, and when they are gone I will probably move.

UFO Wednesday

Okay, I don't know if I am happy about Blogger switching on me or not yet, but I do know that it put off by blogging last night, just when I was learning to get into a rythm. Anyhow, I was going to post about a baby sweater that I had started and then abandoned because I had just made one like it. I am going to finish it though, but it will be made of blue and grey stripes. Like the one I made of yellow and grey only this one has a few changes around the neckline, and the sleeves and such. I wanted to make it completely seemless, so that I wouldn't have to kitchener anything. Maybe when I am done I will post the pattern. I like raglan sweaters because there is less to do in the finishing department. Without further ado, here it is....

UFO Tuesday

I have another unfinished object, but this one wasn't really mine, I bought a bag of yarn at the salvation army and this was in it along with a half done sweater in yellow. They were both done on about size three needles. There are no buttonholes. I think it is made for child around six or seven, I am not sure. It is olive drab in color and I am guessing that it was intended for a little boy. There is some scrap yarn in the bag from the sweater and I intend to sew it up soon, but I don't know anyone who could wear it.

UFO Monday

I have had a UFO sighting in my very own living room, and I think I might be scared. It was a pattern that I started a long time ago, and I don't know if I will be able to finish since I changed the pattern so much. It was Mom's Fast Florida Footies pattern, and I was trying to make them big enough to fit a man with a foot like Fred Flintstone. I did not succeed. I made it big enough to be very comfortable on me. And now I have to figure out how I changed the pattern. Here it is, the one and incomplete....

New friends.

I really wish I knew someone in blogland. I don't. I have never met another knitter face to face that has a computer, and they are older anyway. I have to sit and wonder about all of the people going to Rhinebeck, because I have no idea where they are talking about. Not one person mentioned an actual location. It would help the rest of us who live below the Mason Dixon line. I I live in southern Missouri, there is nothing here in the way of the fiber arts. I told the people at my University that if they had fiber arts I would live there. Anyhow, I am just a little upset that I always miss out on the good stuff and I don't even have a place to go to a fiber fest. I just get to look at everyone else's purchases and wish that I could some year get away to go on a trip somewhere. I think that in the near future I will go to Europe again and I think that I will probably go alone so I do not have to pay that much for anything. I do ahave knitting progress to show, but I am too depressed to post a picture because it will not be of a fantastic yarn that someone bought, or of a pure fiber. The gorgeous colors are pretty much not available either, another disappointment. The only problem that I have in ordering from the internet is that I can tell the real color and I do not want to be disappointed. Oh well, I going to get off of her and try to do something else with my day besides knit.

Whew!

I thought it had been several weeks since I had posted. But it has been only 8 days. I have been so busy with job hunting, I have not had the best of luck lately. I have been hearing that I am over qualified. And I am pretty much, but that does not mean that I do not have bills to pay. Anyhoo, I went to the local Jo-Ann's the other day and I saw some yarn that I knew would be perfect for some sweaters for my two babies. Check it out.

I just love it, it is a superwash yarn which is super important for kids, and I bought it for $1.50 a ball, and it is softer that a thick bath towel. I can not wait to knit this up and put it on my kids. Every time my son sees it he throws a fit because he can't keep it and it is so soft. Well, I am getting ready to take a nice hot bath and do some feminine primping, (eyebrows, legs, etc.) So, I will get off of here to go torture myself. Type at you later;)

Too fast!

Time is passing by so fast that I don't really have the time to post as frequently as I like. I have been trying so hard to get a job. I made some stitch markers the other day for a project that I ripped out three times, yes three. I made them to be bright, but I noticed that they are all copper colored and that one of them has a three leaf clover bead in the middle of it. It reminds me of an Irish lady named Pat. I think that I might give them to her because they are obviously not very good luck for me because then I wouldn't have ripped out the sweater three times. No loss. You live and learn. Here is a picture, I will post more pictures later of the other stitch markers that I have made over time, and maybe some of the jewelry.

sweater #?

Okay, I have a minor obsession making baby sweaters, but it is only because they take so little spare time. I have been working on one for my friend Jessica's little boy, and it will replace the one he grew out of from last year. (The red one with the orange stripes.)I think that blue is a good boy color, but I thought that just blue would be too plain. I like this color, even though the yarn itself is very ACRYLIC. If someone made this yarn in an affordable alternative, I would probably buy it. On the other hand, I was thinking about selling stitch markers. I have some pearls that are very pretty, and some periodot, and some other type of beads. I am not sure whether or not to try maybe an etsy store or what, but I will think about it. On the dating front, Mr. Dreamy has me pretty intimidated, and I usually do not get intimidated by men of any kind. I really like him, but he thinks that I am married in the together sense of the word. I am legally still married, but I am separated, and have been for almost 2 years. I just don't know how to bring it up without seeming obvious, but maybe I need to be who knows. Anyhow, here is a picture, and there will be more to follow, I did try knitting a little bolero sweater, or a shrug, but I messed up three times. The first time was right, it just didn't look right until I tried twice more. Duh.

Timing is everything

The other night I went to the store and ran into the one guy that I said I would actually like to date. His kids went to daycare at out facility, and I helped take care of them fro time to time. He does not live in my town though and it was a surprise to see him there, but the thing that really made me happy is that he went way out of his way to speak to me, and he immediately knew who I was when he saw me. It was really nice. He talked to me for about 20 minutes in the middle of the isle, and he looked so nice. I looked awful because I had worked half of the day cleaning the inside of someone's house, and their deck and things like that. I can not wait to get a full time position that will pay me enough money that I can be comforatable.

Prarie State Park.

My aunt happens to be a park ranger at Prarie State Park. There are prarie chickens, and buffalo, and plants,a nd bugs, and such. Over the weekend, the park had an event and people came from around the area to see pioneer people doing what people used to do. There was dutch oven cooking, and music playing, brain tanning, stantic throwing, and games, such as the throwing of buffalo chips for a prize of $1,000. (I think.) There ware people dressed in old fashioed clothing, and wood fires every where, but there was no fiber craft, no quilts, no afghans, no nothing, only one woman was wearing a shawl and it was not even knitted or crocheted. It was store bought and looked like somone popped the whole thing off of a knit-wit. I was dissappointed, but when I asked my aunt why they did not have someone spinning up the buffalo hair for the evnet, she said she was lucky to have what she got. So, I think that the next time they have the event I would like to talk to her about setting up a spinning wheel, and maybe a loom, and have someone kinning, someone crocheting, tatting, and quilting with examples of each of them. I did not want to poke at a sore spot, but I was curious. But, if there was a way to get the buffalo wool, I would love to learn how to spin, first though I need to get a spinning wheel.

Man, oh Man!

I have something about men to get off of my chest, I said that we were going to go to the State Park, but he (X) could meet me at my house if he wanted to. He says great. So, did he ever show up? No. Did he call? Yes, an hour and a half later. Turns out he calls and leaves a message saying he did not feel so well. Why, you ask? Because he had a house full of people all night into the morning, and he stretched his earring holes, which made him ill. He thinks it is okay to stay up and party and use ear piercing as an excuse to stay away from his children and he thinks that is perfectly acceptable. He has seen his children once for an hour and a half this week, and has he paid any child support? I am sick and tired of being nice. Especially since the other day, I noticed that he drank our 2 year old daughter's pain medication for her tonsils. Not only did he take more than one dose, this is the third time he has drank an actual overdose of liquid hydrocodone medication. He needs to change and apparently nothing I say will work. The courts won't make him take a drug test, and they will not try to test him or order one unless he is arrested for a prior offense. I am sick of his lies. I hope he stays away.

Babies, kids, children and so on...

As I said the other day I got to see my cousins two little children. One is five and the other is two. They never wanted the second of the two which is a shame and it broke them apart. I was upset when I found out I was pregnant, but after a day or two, I calmed down and then I fell in love with the idea. I would not trade having my two for anything in the world, but I would have made me rich whilst having them. (If we are dreaming.) Anyhoo, here are my two precious little bugs.

Whew!

Okay I have managed to land two days substituting, and I hope more, but for now, that is all I can do. I have been working on a blanket using up all of my scrap eyelash yarns, and some other acrylic yarns, (*gasp!*). My kids seem to love it. It is furry, and it looks like sesame street was ground up and woven into something, but I call it the monster pelt. I have been trying to keep busy, and so far I am succeeding, but I did not get to go to Kentucky the other night like I wanted to. I am still poor. I am really counting on getting this state job, and if I do I will be so thankful. I would even be able to pay someone to watch my kids so that I could go to church, speaking of which, I need to make a little girl sweater for my pastor and his wife's child. His wife is my friend Theresa, whom I know and love and miss. I really am getting back in touch with a lot of people that I know back in my home town, and I have to go the high school reunion next year. I have to lose 30 pounds or I am not going. Kidding, I am definitely going. I can't wait;-) I was listening to my tape of the Dixie Chicks, which I have just found after about three years, and the tape broke. It came off of the little round thing on one end, so now I can't listen to it anymore. I must buy a CD. I also got to see a couple of little cousins the other day, and I must say that my cousins little girl and my little girl look a lot alike. I think my daughter looks more like my side of the family that my X's, but I am sure he would never agree. I also made chocolate devils' food cake. MMMMMMMmmmmm.......so good.

Busy, busy, busy.

I have been constantly filling out job search after search trying to find something that I am qualified for, and I would like, is day shift only, and no weekends. I really could use more help from the X, but he is not currently paying child support so I am a little strapped for daycare. I can't even afford to pay for someone to watch my kids for an hour. On the downside of my life, my arm has been killing me lately. I am not sure why, but I think it might have something to do with pilates. I have been trying it lately, and it seems to be a pretty good workout for the midsection. You will feel it later. I have been working on another baby sweater, but it is grey, they same shade of grey that I used in the baby Ezekiel baby sweater. Only, this time I will not be using any different colored stripes. I do not feel like taking any pictures right now. I am so tired, and stressed out trying to figure out where my next paycheck is going to come from. I have managed to be pretty resourceful up until now, but I have simply just run out of options. I have been called to substitute for two different occasions locally and I am looking forward to it. I miss all of the excitement in the children's eyes when they realize that it is time for art.

Afghan to Cindy

I have finished my step-mother's afghan, and I will be mailing it out tomorrow, or rather later today. I am surprised that it took me since Sunday, since it was actually very easy. I do not crochet much and when I do, the pattern has to be written in a way that I can understand, which is not much. I used the pattern from the lion brand website titled the 5 1/2 hour afghan. The pattern actually calls for 3 balls of Jiffy yarn to be used concurrently, but I used two strands of homespun instead. I used three differnt colors, and a Q hook as called for. If you have not been to the LionBrand website, you should go, they have tons of free patterns to print or download. Here is the link if you are interested.

strange,

You know, I can't seem to help myself, but I think all of my pictures make me look stupid, so I think I have momentarlily taken one that is okay. So, yes, I am once again changing the photo of myself in my profile. I will have more progress later today in knitting hopefully. I am gong to go fill out some applications for now. I have to get a job. I would like to find one that will let afford a better lifestyle, but I don't know if that will happen. You would think that a college degree would help you to earn a better living, but so far that has not been the case.

Labor day, labor away.

I have been having a particularly annoying day. My family is driving me crazy. Some one called at the crack of dawn this morning, and woke my son up, who screamed forever, and then I stepprd out on the porch for a second, and my daughter immediately started screaming, and I have an afghan to finish by sometime this week. It is for my step-mother's birthday on Monday. I finished the dress for my cousin and hopefully I can get a picture of her in it later today. I have got to get some kind of job soon, I am going crazy. I still do not have my car back. I miss my car, and I am sick and tired of driving around a car with handicap tags. I am only 28, as of the 21st of last month, and I am not handicap, and I have a car of my own, and I want a job. I can't get a job with this car, everyone looks at me like I am a lawsuit waiting to happen. I always thought it was important to take good care of your car, and to have a good one, but my car is being stripped down apparently without my permission. My battery has been taken out the hood was up in the rain, and there are clothes of my X's roomate in the backseat of my car, which means that when the battery was in the car, his roomate was driving my car 30 miles to work and back. I have an older BMW which I love like a faimly member, and I am getting horribly impatient waiting for it to be fixed. I think I might go annoy some family members so I can borrow a size 24mm wrench. okay, I feel better, I like that I can say what I like without having to worry online. No matter what I say, it always gets blown out of proprtion. No, I think I will leave my internet on all day and go to the park.

Off white, victorian white, cream, ecru, and?

I am making a pair of gloves for my father in cream Hauk, by Dale of Norway, the pattern is from Schachenmayr book #72 S 2, titled Inspiration.

It doesn't seem to be a manly color, but it is just plain natural colored wool. I could not get any other color at the time from my lys. So far I am really enjoying the construction of the gloves, but it is hell on my hands. My hands have been swollen for two days now, and I guess they will probably be that way until I finish them. I might need to look into getting some plastic needles, or some clovers, or something that has some give to it. I have been using Boye aluminums in size three. I actually will have to get more needles, because of the fingers. Ihope to have them done soon!

purple bauble for a purple, wait no that's not right

I just finished a purple sweater for a baby, but I can't seem to find the right type of closure for it. I tried buttons, but the guage is so small that it really is a fight to get any button through it. It is the baby yoda sweater, and I like the pattern okay, but there are a couple of things that would or did change. The sleeve size was way too small to use in the original pattern so I added a few stitches to the sleeve, and if I were to do the patterns again, I would figure out how to do a smooth band of garter stitch along the front edge where there is border. (I added the border myself, I thought it looked too plain.) Other than that, it was a very well written pattern, and I don't remember where I got it from, but it was a pattern from someone's personal website. Please let me know who if you know so I can give them credit. The color is way off, but it shows what was done. More next time...

remiss

I have been very lax in keeping my promise to myself about my blog. I don't do it for the satisfaction of anyone reading it, I just like having a place to vent. And to show my work. I don't have much else going on right now in the way of leaving the house, but I have been busy. I have been comissioned for a wedding, and I have a picture of the current dress I am working on. I really like the way it is going so far, but the pattern is incorrect for all of the layers you have to sew through. It makes the top layer shorte than the others and the bottom layer longer and then I have to trim it perfectly, and resew. Color is great, a shade of dusty rose in chantung, very silky. I think my cousin will be surprised when she puts the dress on for the first time. It is also much lighter than a store bought dress because lining can be bought very thin. I have been very inspired by this though, and I also watched marc jacobs on tv the other day, and loved his slip dress. I have to make some. In several differnt colors and then I have to make sweters to go with them.

lost? maybe.

I have been kinda lost ever since I quit my job, I have been spending my time with my kids and loving every minute. Anyhow, I have had a yard sale, and I am being commisioned to make a dress for my cousin, and possibly make curtains. Itold her how much it would cost to make black-outs and she almost fainted. To top that off, she lives in an all metal house, and there is no way to secure that curtains, so they have to be magetically secured to the walls. I have secured two other jobs, and I think that I will like them both, substituting in the public schools, and doing photography. I have an art degree, but I don't have a lot of experience with the editing programs such as Adobe. This will be new, and I hope very satisfying. I have been knitting, and possibly today or tomorrow I will have something done. It is very cute but tomorrow is also my son's first birthday, so I am having a party. The party that I wish I could have had for my daughter as well, but I did not know that many kids. Now we do, and it will be lots of fun. Talk at you later.

New updated me.

I thought I should post a more accurate photo of myself for the blog. Other than the last profile pic, three was only one, and it was bad.

New Projects

I have been working on the Angelina sweater for a while now, but I think I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also cast on for the Simply Marylin by Debbie Bliss. The colors in the pictures are pretty true, and if you notice, you will please excuse my bed cover in the picture. I washed my sheets and everything a couple days ago, but the dog jumped on the bed, got under the covers and dirtied it up again. I have been so busy at work. My boss, thinks she knows what is going on, but I am really starting to wonder, we have had payroll problems, ownership problems, and controlissues because she pretty much allows her daughter to walk all over her staff. She is going to lose all of her staff if she is not careful. I resigned as the director, I was tired of taking all of the blame. I was not adequately staffed or funded, and I did the best I could, but she did not appreciate it, so I stepped down, however, I still have a job. She wanted me to stay and pretty much since I told her what I thought of her skills as my boss she has stayed away from work. Everyday she says she will come to work and she only ends up being there for a half an hour or so. She said she would help me releive people so they could take their lunch breaks and then she left. She didn't do anything. She was there a total of about 10 min. She told me last week she would get me my paycheck, and she sure did, after I went on strike for two days. Which made my paycheck a total of four days late. I was freaking out. The girls came over to my house after work and cheered me up. We also went out the other day and I saw someone from my past. 13 years past that is. He looks very different now, and I know I do as well. He seems to like kids, and that is nice since I have two, but they have a father and I am not looking for anyone to move in with me, or to move in with, marry, or anything like that. There is someone that I would like to date, but I doubt that I will ever get the chance. He was a fellow art student and of course he had red hair which I secretly have a huge weakness for. I am also trying to apply for a teaching job that I am not certified in. Wish Me Luck!

blue period

I have proof that I have been busy on something blue. It is a baby blanket for my son. I made one for my daughter, and this is late, but almost done. My son is now 10 months old, but when I had my daughter, I was not working and I had no other child running around to keep me busy. Anyhow, it is now technically the month of violet and purple. I am torn between the Simply Marylin sweater by Debbie Bliss and the Salt Peanuts sweater by ? I think it might be Veronique Avery.
Oh, man, on a personal note, I have been having one hell of a time at work, I even missed two days becuse they would not give me my check, she didn't have enough money to pay me. I had bills to pay, and when the bank would not cash my four day late payroll check, the car I was driving broke down, my son was sick, and I thought the world was conspiring against me. Until, that is, the girls from work called me and came over to my house, and we drank wine and had a gripe session about work. We like our jobs, the details are the only thing that bothers us. And so I have less progress than I thought because that was Friday evening and the girls were here until 3:40 AM. I should be finished tomorrow or later today, I would like to add a border as well to complete the look, so we will see how it goes.
