Ouch
Ok, Double whammy, I had my favorite hat disappear, and not that much yarn left, then I threw out my back. Yep, nothing left to do but make myself another hat, Saturday. I had to take my holiday at work, so, lucky that I had nothing else to do. I sat here on the loveseat with my feet up for half the day. I was done in a few hours and I quite like the effect even though I am not a person that likes pom poms...I like this one. I am also making some gaunlets to go with it. They shoudl be done shortly. The pattern is my own, and The yarns are Manos del Uraguay, and Nashua Creative Focus. If you would like the pattern please ask. Colors: Manos Bramble, and Nashua Taupe Heather

another mini
This yarn is addictive, I don't know how many of you have tried Tonalita by Trendsetter yarns, but it is realy soft on the hands,a nd I have enjoyed it alot. I look forward to buying more of it. I need to use up soem of my current stash though. I have some cotton chenille to make a washcloth out of, and about 4 rubbermaid bins full of yarn just waiting......for a purpose even. I think I have a bunch of baby blankets to make. Maybe. I have been working on other things as well, but I like finished posts....so we'll just have to wait.

About Time!
Ok ok, something for those of you who happen by my blog by accident, a pic of the sweater I recently finished. Size 2 toddler, Lion Brand Wool-Ease and Red Heart acrylic, size 9 needles, and JBH buttons, upside down. I like them better that way. They had a lot of color on the other side. I am working on several other projects at the same time, another Tonalita scarf, a sweater from Knitscene adapted to my style, and of course the ever on going Angelina, and a pair of gloves for my Dad. I need to finish some of them quick, because I need to make a sweater for my son. He seems to be a bit jealous of the sweaters that I have made for my daughter.

It's been so long....
There has so much activity since I posted last, and boy let me tell you that it has been busy, but of course I let a couple items get away without any pics. As for the grey sweater I started it is done, but I can't find the perfect buttons yet. The pink in the sweater is kind of bright, so I am going to have a hard time finding something to match. As for one of the items that got away, it was a baby blanket, tan with light blue dark blue and brown stripes, and I crocheted and edging around with three of the four colors. I may make another one close to the one I gave away, for a couple of my cousins, we will see. I have already started a baby sweater to match the blanket that I made. I hope the pattern turns out okay, I have never used it before, it is a variation of the 5 hour baby sweater. It doesn't really seem to have the stitch counts right, and I don't know if it is me, or if it the pattern. I will post a pic of the sweater in a day or so hopefully, I would rather have buttons on it first though;-)

More to come....
I spent an hour the other night sewing a butterfly latch button onto my daughters sweater that I finished the other day. And she likes it even more, she just doesn't want to wear a shirt under it. It would seem that the other sweater I made last year was the one from last minute knitted gifts, and she wore it to death, the buttons even fell off, I was so proud. But I have lots more it the works....and even though my air conditioning went out today, I would love to finish something soon. I also worked on my BMW, and I hope to have the head off soon, I just need to get stronger to break loose the head bolts, wish me luck.

OMG
I cannot believe that it has taken me this long to post....Iknew I had been remiss, but this is terrible. I vow to do better in the future. I have a finished object for you....a long awaited one anyway. I just finished it. I have been very busy. I have a new job and I have so much going on at the moment. I have been out car shopping and aand just doing everything. I also need to get a cheaper house so I can afford more things. I am looking to buy, and I want to stay in the area, so I may have to wait a while. Anyhoo, without any further ado, this is a creation for my daughter in a yarn that was made by Wal-Mart, and the pattern was the Short Round Neck Cardigan from the Big Needle Knits book. I fell in love with the pattern when I saw it and it does not come in kid sizes, but I made it into a size 4.

woo hoo!
Okay, I said I ordered a book, and it has not come yet, but lookie what I got in the mail! My step-mother had a friend of hers buy them in Germany for moi. Now, I have to really get better at my German interpretation. So, now I am still waiting on my book, and I have loads of eye candy to drool over.

I know, I know....but it makes me happy
There was a quote I once heard, and agree with very much, by Bo Derek of all people. "Whoever said money doesn't buy hapiness doesn't know where to shop." I HAVE to agree. Whether it is something as trivial as a favorite ice cream, to favorite yarn, which we all know can get expensive....whatever it is, there is somehting that you can buy to cheer you up and only you know where to get it. I bought something a few minutes ago while trolling around on Amazon, and it was something I have been wanting for almost a year. It cost $7.63 total, cost and shipping. What was it you ask? A book. But, not just any book....EZ's Knitter's Almanac. I have watched over the past couple years as people have turned out sweater after sweater, and item after item from this classic book, and I knew I had to have one....and now I will. I copied the pic, but it won't open....I will take one when it arrives, he he he ...

Think Pink...
My little girl certainly does. I bought this yarn because it had her name all over it. It was clearanced out at $1.00 a ball. I bought five, and I am using a pattern from Big Needle Knits. I am using the pattern short round necked cardigan, and I am adapting it to fit my daughter who currently wears size 4 clothing. So far it has been fairly easy, I am sure it will get trickier around the armhole shaping. I am using size 13 needles and it looks pretty good. The most time consuming part is every now and then I stop and pull out all of those little lashes to the outside of the fabric. Still it is a fast knit, when I work on it. I only have a couple hours in it at this point and think the whole thing may take 5 hours more to finish, if I can do a knitathon.
You know, I did not realize it had been so long since I posted last. I have been terribly busy most days with job stuff. The school career center is driving me nuts. I keep giving reference forms to people that could write good references for me, and so far the only one that has made it into my file was hand delivered. How can they lose so many letters? I am getting pretty irritated, because when I found out they were missing, I asked them to hold a request for my credentials and I would get new letters.....They sent a potential employer a half empty credential packet. Now I am screwed, she says "I am sorry, if there had been a hold on it we wouldn't have sent it out." I said "There was a hold." She says "Oh." Is she going to try to help me? No. She says she doesn't know what happened and that she needs to go. What am I supposed to do? That was the best job offer I had close to home. I guess now I have no other choice because they are not going to cooperate. I am going to have to talk to someone about this. I need a job, and they are crippling my chances of getting something good. I want to know how many other half empty credential files they have sent out to potential jobs. Ridiculous. Oh well, I guess Monday I have a new mission in life. Or at least temporarily.
Anyhow, I have a lot of knitting to do yet:
1. Angelina
2. Dad's gloves
3. Ahava's sweater
4. Pringle sweater
5. socks?
okay okay, I'm going.....

Mini Finish
Okay, it wasn't really a lot to do, but I feel like I have finally finished something, this is a miniscarf done in Tonalita Color2348 by Trendsetter Yarns. It is 52% wool and 48% acrylic, but it is GOOD....like chocolate good.....addiction good...I can see myself buying way too much of this already.....Pattern: mine, 15sts, seed stitch, knit until there is about 15in of yarn left, bind off in pattern. Normally $9.50 a ball, I got it at my LYS for 50% off because it was the only one left it its color. Woohoo!

Busy Busy Bees
Some bees were very busy over the winter, and I know, because someone gave me these as a gift...that was a week ago and they are still doing okay. (That would be my daughter behind them...) However, the person who gave them to me will not speak to me anymore. Apparently he had hopes that we would get married....but even the thought of another marriage is scary. Not to mention the fact that he was really rushing things, he only knew me for a week. Oh well, my brother came in from Florida, and I didn't even get a pictue to post. I will have to download one from his website. We don't look related so much anymore. He is two years older than me....but today he turns 31. Happy Birthday to my one and only big brother. Last Sunday was my Dad's birthday, the reason I am knitting crazy german mittens.
Wow, my kids are having a connecting moment, they wanted to sit next to eachother on the arm of the sofa....so cute. I have the other glove to finish and I can't wait because these gloves are dragging on forever. Hope Dad knows I care....lol.

Chinese Torture Anyone?
I have been working on this glove for a while now....the same glove, for about 6 months. I have knit, and ripped, knit and ripped, and knit and ripped. The crazy thing is a pattern from a german manufacturer, that has been translated to English, or a resemblance of. It has driven me crazy from the moment I started it. There are directions in over three different places, and none of them match up. There are only partial directions in each spot. I would not recommend buying their patterns, but they are so darn cute, if you can figure them out. Anyhow, I have to get back to work, I need to finish this glove in time for the mail, it is a present for my Dad. His birthday is next week. 52 years old.....hahaha....but he's my Daddy. We did not get along until I was 15, but after that we were like two peas in a pod.

Sshhhh...I have a secret...
I have been sewing! Yes, I have always sewn, but now I have a state of the art non-computerized machine, by Brother. It was given to my mother and she broke it by not cleaning it, and then when I fixed it, she did not use it for over a year. I asked her why and she said she did not think that I had fixed the machine, because it was not working like it used to, she did not even try it for herself, she was watching me sew.....I did not go fast enough for her viewing pleasure, so I suggesting taking it from her and she was happy to oblige. I am giving my old machine to someone who like to learn to sew, and it should be a good first machine. Some other things that have happened; I found a local knitting group to join, it only took 5 years. I found Adorn magazine, super cool ideas...and I found a magazine called Cotton and Paint. There are some awesone slippers in it, and I am going to make two pair I think. I bought fabric for red ones and fabric for mauve brown ones...mmmmmm. Okay, here is a take a long bag that I made for my son, because no one gets his name right or returns his things...watch them try it now.

Working....on everything ; )
I have been busy for the past week or so, I have been working, I got done this evening at about 9:30. I have to go to work tomorrow too, and I do not know exactly how long it will take, but I do know that I can seriously make money cleaning. It is so strange how much people get paid to clean empty places. I worked so hard scrubbing that my legs literally ache all the way down the fronts and backs....I am getting ready to take a HOT bath. I can't wait. Rest assured that I have been knitting when I find that I can breathe, but it is on an older project that I am getting close to finishing. I want to work on my knit in chunks, but I find that I have to concentrate, and I can't hardly do that around my kids. Okay, my water is ready, I am going to sink in.....talk at you later....

I'm really doing it!
I have never done cables like this folks, but it really is easy, I just don't get a lot of time to work on it. I have three other projects going, and I need to finish a pair of gloves for my Dad. But, here is my progress thus far. I have been cleaning, and taking care of my sick little boy, and then tomorrow I get to take my daughter to the doctor for her three year check up....as a preliminary request of the neurologist. We think there may be something wrong with my daughter, she has trouble listening, and she doesn't answer questions coherently, and there are several other things that worry me, but one of the biggest is that she did not used to have these problems....and we don't know why she is having problems with things that she did not have problems with before. It's very strange, I had asked the doctor about the possibility that something went awry when she had her tonsilectomy, and they said that it could have been possible for her to have a stroke or seizure and no one would have known. I have been asking the doctor about these strange behaviors for a while now (months), and if I find out that it was a stoke or seizure I will be upset, because now the damage will be irreversible. They kept telling there was nothing to worry about...but now they are worried too.

Slip Slip Slipping away....
Oh boy, this day is going to last forever, I can already feel it. My daughter woke everyone up about three or four times in the middle of the night, and she wanted a kiss or she couldn't find her baby in the dark. I was ready to go nuts, she kept wanting a glass of milk to keep in her room. Ugh! Anyhow, I have to go to work today and clean a house. I have ben waiting on the key for two days. The house is over 3000 square feet. I am tired. I knit a pair of slippers for my daughter from a very popular book, and I hope they turn out to her size. I made them a little differently than in the book. I put a furry trim around the top. It was something someone gave me that I had no clue what to do with. I found something.....hopefully I can felt these today.

Knit in chunks by Miss Twiss
I recently found a new webpage that is owned by Miss Twiss, many of you I am sure already know who she is, and I am just finding out. She is an apparently very generous person that saw a sweater in a magazine and decided to make her own pattern, and then SHARE it! How nice of her! I have been working on it, and I have not gotten really far because I am not used to knitting cables, so I am sort of slow, but I hope to make lots of progress shortly, I also need to buy an appropriate cable needle. I called my LYS, but they have not been open for three weeks now. We have has so much snow and ice that I don't think they will be open till next week. I am using Lion Brand Woolease in the color Orchid which is darker than my picture. It is more purple than bright pink. Anyhoo, I have also knit a pair of slippers for my daughter, will post more on that later, I still need to felt them.

Christmas Catch-up
Okay, I have now a new picture to post.....of all my Christmas loot. My step-mother bought most of it, and I think that she tried to understand what I wanted, but she is not a knitter, so I guess that she will get a lot of things knitted with yarn I do not wear. I told her I like natural fibers. As you can see, that was not what happened. She did get a lot of yarn though. She got me two books, one that I really wanted and one that is very cute. She got me this year's edition of the Knitter's Calendar, and my Dad bought me the Stitch N Bitch knitting calendar. They also got me an Ashford drop spindle and three different colors of roving. I am pretty sure that they are all BFL wool. (Blue Faced Liecester?) It is supposed to the easiest to learn spinning with. I have already managed to spin a little. I cannot wait to make something and then wear it or give it to someone. I think that most of my family appreciates the value of something handmade because they are always asking me to teach them how to do this or that, (I usually give handmade gifts). I also bought myself two magazines and a book that was on clearance. The cotton fleece is the biggest mystery I need to find some short sleeved shirts to make out of it. I think I like the ones over at Zephyr designs... they are very cute and sassy. I will be losing a little bit of weight soon, so I am thinking about making the sized with only three skeins of Cotton Fleece. I hope that I will be thin soon enough to enjoy them.

Mitts!
My Cousins' little boy has been asking me for a while now to make him a pair of mittens in the color "boy blue" this would mean the shade of blue that I used the year before to make a hat and scarf, and glove ensemble for him on his birthday. H has since grown out of the last pair of mittens and has been asking me for another pair for months. Anyhow they are done and I still have not taken any pictures of the my new loot, will do later...The pattern is from a Debbie Bliss book, they are knitted flat and seamed up the side. The picture is not very clear, but is representative of the color pattern. They are for a four year old boy.

Wow, what a Christmas!
I cannot believe all of things we got for Christmas....I also made a few things. I got three calendars, one was the page a day calendar of Stich N Bitch, one was the Knitting calendar that sits on the desk, and the other one was for being a mom...I got yarn, books, patterns, leather for slippers, a drop spindle, roving, novelty yarns, and there is more on the way. As it turns out there is a friend of my step mother whose mother lives in Germany and she is sending me some pattern books from overseas! I have lots to post and lots of pictures to share, so I will be doing that in the next few days, but for now, here is the wrap that I made for my step mother. It is about 13 or 14 feet long and it is about 20" wide. I loved it, hope she does too.
